Senior Law Day Offers Free Legal and Financial Advice

Ed note: What follows is a Patch reader-generated announcement.

Legal and financial experts will give free advice on elder law topics such as changes in estate law, paying for long-term care and how aging parents can plan for aging dependents at the 12th Annual Senior Law Day in Westchester tomorrow, Oct. 27, at the County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains.

The program will be under way from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 18 workshops – including two in Spanish – will be led by elder law attorneys, certified financial planners and professionals from agencies that serve Westchester County seniors and their families. More than 300 people have registered to attend the event.

New topics this year will be an update on changes to estate and income tax laws and New York’s new Marriage Equality Act. Other featured workshops are on making gifts to loved ones, wills vs. trusts and the basics of financial planning.

In addition, Senior Law Day will again offer the seniors one-on-one, 15-minute, pro bono consultations with attorneys and certified financial planners.

Senior Law Day is presented by the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services, the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services and the Ninth Judicial District of the New York State Office of Court Administration.
