One of the main responsibilities of parents is to protect our children. Many of us however, do not plan for the unthinkable - that we do not see our kid's 18th birthday. Any parent should be prepared for that, but if one or both parents are not US citizens, it's even more crucial to have a plan in place:
- What happens if my child is a U.S. citizen, but we, the parents are not, and something would happen to us?
- What are the tax implications if my spouse passes away while we are living in the US and we don't have a trust to protect our estate?
- Can I appoint a legal guardian who is NOT a US citizen?
