Former White Plains Police Chief Named Deputy Public Safety Commissioner

James Bradley served the city as chief for 25 years.

Former White Plains Police Chief James Bradley has been named the city’s new Deputy Public Safety Commissioner, a position White Plains had not funded since 2010.

The Journal News reports that Assistant Police Chief Anne FitzSimmons has been named the department’s acting chief until a new chief is selected. Bradley, who has been with the force for 42 years, has been chief for 25 years and retired Thursday to take the new role.

“Jim has served the people of White Plains for over 40 years,” Public Safety Commissioner David Chong told The Journal News. “He’s a city resident and he raised his family here. With his experience, he brings knowledge about what has worked and what hasn’t. He’s committed to high quality community service.”
