Free Produce Program will help feed seniors in Northern Westchester
Residents of the Bedford, Lewisboro, Millwood, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers, Yorktown eligible for free home delivery.
White Plains - June 26, 2022 - United Way of Westchester and Putnam is teaming up with Feeding Westchester, the Community Center of Northern Westchester, and DoorDash to deliver supplemental fresh produce to seniors and the homebound monthly beginning July 19. The Produce Delivery Program is limited to Northern Westchester residents within 15 miles of Katonah, NY. You must be a resident of Westchester County to participate.
The program is limited to 500 households within a 15-mile delivery radius of Community Center of Northern Westchester in Katonah. You must be a resident of the towns of Bedford, Lewisboro, Millwood, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers, Yorktown to participate.
Seniors and homebound individuals are encouraged to participate, but it is not limited to these community members.

The fruits and vegetables are being provided by Feeding Westchester and the Community Center of Northern Westchester will be distributing the parcels to the DoorDash drivers.
The Produce Delivery Program is a component of UWWP’s Ride United Last Meal Delivery Program. The RULMD program is part of United Way’s national efforts to close the transportation gap for those in need. The program began in response to the COVID-19 crisis to deliver food and essential goods to vulnerable populations across the U.S. and continues to grow as it assists in connecting families and individuals to food and other items that were otherwise out of reach.

“The Produce Delivery Program allows us to bring the resources to those in need, who cannot go get them for themselves. We are proud to work with local agencies and food banks to identify available food and other essential goods for people who can’t travel and arrange for deliveries by DoorDash Dashers,” said Tom Gabriel, CEO of United Way of Westchester and Putnam. “Solving problems sustainably takes partnership, and by working together, we can make sure every person gets the support they need.”
