On Monday, November 6th, the League of Women Voters of White Plain will host a reception from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at ArtsW, the gallery space at Arts Westchester 31 Mamaroneck Avenue.
The reception, a celebration of women’s voting rights in New York State, will include a chance to share voting memories, hear “The Art of Suffrage,” a talk by Louise Berkinow and hear historical quotes from Suffragists and enjoy a tour of the exhibit. Everyone is invited to celebrate with us. Admission is free.
The suffragist movement was one of the most powerful grassroots political movements of the 20th century. In New York State, women won the right to an equal say in the democratic process and full recognition as American citizens three years before the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the constitution giving women the vote in national elections.
