Governor Cuomo Signs Abinanti & Schimel Lever Voting Legislation

Governor Cuomo signed legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Schimel (D-Great Neck) and co-sponsored by Assemblyman Abinanti (D-Greenburgh/Mt. Pleasant) to spare additional election costs by permitting villages, school districts and other local districts to use lever voting machines for another year. The Governor also signed Assemblyman Abinanti’s companion legislation which makes technical amendments to ensure the proper use of these machines.

“The Governor’s action clears the way for villages, school districts and local districts to continue avoiding the cost of having to convert to electronic voting machines for elections with relatively few voters,” said Abinanti.
