Leading Attorney Honors Individuals At Scholarship Fundraiser

Managing Partner & Owner of Markhoff & Mittman P.C., The Disability Guys™ in White Plains, NY recognizes individuals at annual fundraiser

Brian M. Mittman, Managing Partner and Owner of Markhoff & Mittman P.C., The Disability Guys™, a leading workers’ compensation law firm in New York, recently presented awards at the seventeenth annual Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial (TSFFM) Scholarship Fundraiser. Mr. Mittman currently serves as the organization’s president.

Founded in 2002, TSFFM is a 501 (c)(3) organization established to memorialize the events of the March 25, 1911 fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory and its impact in changing existing New York State labor laws. TSFFM educates the public regarding workplace safety and helps establish a scholarship fund for children of injured workers. This year’s scholarship winners were Carolyn Seminario and Elysa Rivera.

In addition to providing scholarships, each year, TSFFM presents the Clara Lemlich Public Service Award, which honors individuals for their outstanding efforts in improving work place conditions. This year’s honorees were Ann Toback, Executive Director of the Workmen’s Circle, and Anthony G. Speelman, President of New York’s largest grocery workers union, UFCW Local 1500, at the Seventeenth Annual Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser.

“Since the founding of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial organization, we have provided over $450,000 in scholarships to inspiring students. I am proud to a part of an organization that helps those in need and works diligently to keep the memory, and lessons, of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire alive to ensure workers and their families are protected,” said Brian M. Mittman Managing Partner and Owner of Markhoff & Mittman P.C., The Disability Guys™. and President of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial. “It is an honor to know that we have made a difference with countless students who will serve as our future leaders.”
