LSHV Successfully Completes 50th Anniversary Campaign!

LET JUSTICE GROW – our $1 million Campaign to prevent homelessness for children and families across the Hudson Valley, was a success!

WHITE PLAINS, NY- Founded in 1967, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017. In light of this milestone, the organization launched LET JUSTICE GROW – a $1 million Campaign to prevent homelessness for children and families across the Hudson Valley.

LSHV would like to thank the hundreds of contributors who supported the campaign, including the following major donors:

LSHV provides free, comprehensive, civil legal services to those that cannot afford an attorney when their basic human needs are at stake, and is the only such provider in the seven counties of the lower and mid-Hudson Valley. Agency-wide, almost 44% of LSHV’s cases focus on homelessness prevention by providing legal advice and counsel and brief or extended representation to homeowners in foreclosure and tax proceedings as well as tenants in unwarranted eviction cases. LSHV also handles legal matters relating to domestic violence, elder law, disability law, consumer protection, and more.

LSHV is also proud to announce that in 2017, the agency handled 14,993 cases, which impacted 34,031 household members. These cases included legal issues such as: housing (44%); domestic violence including family law (23%); income stabilization (18%); and consumer advocacy (5%).
