WDOM and LVW announce voter education for People with Disabilities
Westchester Disabled on the Move and League of Women Voters of Westchester Announce Forum on National Voter Registration Day

Westchester County, NY – September 17, 2024 – On National Voter Registration Day Westchester Disabled on the Move, Inc. and the League of Women Voters of Westchester County announced that they will co-host a forum encouraging people with disabilities to vote.
Saying that systemic barriers prevent many people with disabilities from accessing their right to vote, the two organizations will hold a voter education program to help educate people with disabilities on their rights. The program will also help voters to register and apply for absentee ballots.
Tuesday, September 17th, is National Voter Registration Day—a nonpartisan day of action observed across the country to highlight the importance of voter registration.

The event, REV UP!, (Register, Educate, Vote, Use your Power), will be held on October 16 from 12-2 p.m. at the Westchester County Center at 198 Central Park Avenue, White Plains NY. To learn more visit WDOM - Home - Westchester Disabled on the Move, Inc.
Those who attend the nonpartisan forum can expect to hear from the Board of Elections and receive information about voting and the voting rights of people with disabilities.

“It’s important for people with disabilities to have all the information they need about registering to vote and the voting process in 2024,” says Maria Samuels, Executive Director of Westchester Disabled On the Move, Inc. “We want them to feel empowered to vote, so that they can support political candidates who will best represent their interests.”
Kathy Meany, President of the League of Women Voters of Westchester County said:
“As a nonpartisan, political organization, our mission as the League of Women Voters is to empower voters and defend democracy through education and advocacy. No vote, no voice. We hope that this forum will help people with disabilities to understand their rights and make it easier for all our citizens to participate," said Meany.
