Rain, Chillier Temps Return to White Plains: Work Week Weather
Keep an umbrella nearby—don't put away that spring jacket yet—and hope conditions help firefighters and forest rangers on Cragsmoor.

The National Weather Service’s updated forecast for the work week is pretty good overall, but it’s going to be very chilly and rain is expected off and on.
The coming rain may help crews fighting large wildfires at Sam's Point Preserve.
"After a winter that produced record low levels of snow pack, along with a fairly dry month of April, we have maximized our fire danger levels across the region," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

There will be a cloudy start to the week as what Potter called a sagging low front brings rain. It should be heaviest on Tuesday.
Also temperatures will be more seasonal, in the 50s and 60s, and temps at night will be chilly and on some nights may fall back into the low to mid 30s.

"Calm winds, increasing dewpoint levels and incoming rainfall will lend a helping hand to combating these fires over the next 24 hours," Potter said. "Please continue to abide by the state burn ban and be mindful of the consequences of even a discarded cigarette so we can continue to protect our beautiful forests. Currently both Sam’s Point and Minnewaska Parks are both closed as teams from across the state continue to battle."
