Baseball
Zack Tax (White Plains-Rye Country Day '10) and his Columbia baseball team, played a twin bill at The Citadel on the 4th, and won the first in 12 innings, 11-7, with Tax gaining the win as he pitched 2 innings, during which time he gave up 2 runs on 2 hits, and struck out 1 batter.

His Lions won by scoring 5 runs in the top of the 12th. They dropped the night cap, 5-4.
In the first of 2 games at Clermont, FL, Le Moyne's softball team lost, 7-5 to Flagler, as right fielder Mathew Ciraco (White Plains-Perkiomen School '08) had 1-4 at bat, and scored a run. They dropped a 7-5 game to Flagler on the 4th, with Ciraco having 1 hit and scoring a run in the game.
On the 5th, in a 5-2 loss to Wayne State of Michigan, he went 1-3 and walked once, while on the 6th, with Wayne State of Nebraska, he hit 3-4, scored 2 runs, and had 1 steal in the 6-3 win.
Softball
Lauren Sputo (White Plains ‘11) had an auspicious start for the St. Rose softball team on the 6th, as she fanned 10 batters, walked 1, and had 2 doubles in 3 at bats, in the win over St. Francis of Illinois, 4-1.
The same day, they played Concordia and lost in 8 innings on a walk off triple, 9-8. She pitched the final 2.2 innings, and was charged with the loss.
At Clermont, Fl. the Post U. Eagles are 1-7 in the Spring series, with Stephanie Mendez (White Plains '10) a pinch runner in an 11-9 loss to St. Rose on the 4th.
Lax Rule Adjustments
The White Plains boys lacrosse squad will have to get used to some adjustments to the rules that are being made this year, with the biggest among them being the elimination of the 10-second count after the initial touch.

States Suspended?
It isn't certain how many more New York State Public High School Athletic Association state tournaments will be held in the future.
That's because there has been talk about suspending state tournaments in all sports, for two years, because of financial reasons, beginning in the 2013-14 school year, according to Rich Thomaselli's fine work on MSG Varsity.
