Stepinac High School Creates Its Inaugural Chapter Of Prestigious Mu Alpha Theta, the National Mathematics Honors Society
40 Top Students Will Have Opportunities to Take Their Keen Interest in Math to Next Level

Stepinac High School’s mathematics department has announced the creation of its inaugural chapter of the prestigious Mu Alpha Theta (MAT), the National Mathematics Honors Society committed to inspiring keen interest, promoting enjoyment and developing strong scholarship in math.
Stepinac’s MAT group comprises 40 top math students including:
Seniors: Joshua Aulet, Angelo Sedlak, Alexandre Rosenthal, Eric Jimenez, Timothy Ryan, Sean Eddington, Rau Fu, Dylan Castro, Christopher Hecht, Joseph Dorio, Joseph Cappiello, Hari Channagiri and David Duran.

MET was established in 1957. Its name, Mu Alpha Theta, was constructed from the Greek lettering for the phonemes m, a, and th.
There are more than 113,000 MAT student members located at more than 2,300 schools in the U.S. and in 20 other countries around the world.
MAT presents a national convention for students and teachers to participate in math-related events and opportunities to interact with others from across the country; rewards outstanding extracurricular achievement by offering special awards, scholarships and grants to students and their faculty advisers and provides math competitions to participating members at their own school.
