Tango Band Abaddón to Perform at Music Conservatory of Westchester

Join the Music Conservatory of Westchester for a tango night with NYC-based band Abaddón.

On Friday, October 27, the Music Conservatory of Westchester will host tango band Abaddón for a concert at 7:30PM in the Conservatory’s Recital Hall. The event will offer the option to dance or sit while enjoying live tango music. All dance levels and styles are welcome. Refreshments will be included with admission. Tickets are available for purchase online for $20 and available at the door for $25.

Abaddón is a sextet of New York City-based musicians with members hailing from Colombia, Argentina, Korea, Guatemala, and the U.S.A., comprised of two bandoneons, two violins, piano, and bass. Band members Shinjoo Cho (bandoneon), David Hodges (bandoneon), Sergio Reyes (violin), Sara Silva (violin), Antonio Boyadjian (piano), and Pablo Lanouguere (bass) play music by well-known tango musicians such as Astor Piazzolla, Raul Garello, Sexteto Mayor, as well as original compositions. Abaddón’s debut album will be released in 2017, featuring six pieces intended to make a statement in the contemporary tango scene. The group performed at the Bronx World Film Festival in 2016, and individually, group members have performed in orchestras and tango groups both domestically and internationally. Abaddón violinist Sara Silva is also on the faculty at the Music Conservatory of Westchester.

The Music Conservatory of Westchester was founded in 1929 by a group of community members and renowned artists. Today, the Conservatory, provides the extraordinary benefits of music to all in our community, from absolute beginners to advanced artists, with one-on-one instruction, performing ensembles, theory, composition, early childhood classes, lifelong learning for adults, and free community performances for 2,900 students each year from 4 months to over 80 years old. As a not-for-profit organization, the Conservatory is dedicated to serving the community and reaching out to those who would not otherwise have access through its scholarship program. The Music Therapy Institute brings music into the lives of 1,900 children and adults with disabilities each year. The Conservatory has inspired generations of students, and contributed to a vibrant musical life in the county, the region, and beyond.
