Vipers Are Champs

The Westchester Vipers (playing out of the Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford) won the Squirt (10 years old and under) Tier 2 NY State Ice Hockey Championship, last night (March 4) in Niagara Falls, NY.

The team, which has been nationally ranked in the top 10 for most of the season, is coached by Westchester residents Judson Selig and Frank Scalia and includes boys from communities throughout Westchester.

The team went 3-0 in the opening round on Friday and Saturday to reach to the semi-final on Sunday where they beat the Bethlehem Eagles (#1 seed from Northern NY) 6-4 before winning the final 3-0 on Sunday evening vs. the host and #1 seed from Western NY, the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles.

The team finished the season with an overall record of 60-12-4. The tournament was played at O’Dwyer Arena on the campus of Niagara University.

Track & Field

At the Armory Collegiate track and field meet on 2/17-18, Kamilah Williams (White Plains '11) of the Albany Greyhounds finished 3rd in the women's 400 meter dash, with a clocking of 56.85, while her team finished 2nd in the meet, with 159.50 points.

At the Ivy League Heptagonal track and field meet at Cornell on Feb. 25th and 26th, Renee McDougall (White Plains-Horace Mann '08) and the women's 4 x 400 Medley Relay team finished 5th, with a clocking of 3:47.86.
