Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Household Repairs; Driving
Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities somewhere in the Hudson Valley.
Each week Patch will be highlighting a volunteer opportunity — or two or three — in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — in perhaps a way you didn't consider before.
And if you have some need for volunteers, be sure to let us know by emailing michael.woyton@patch.com.
This week we are putting the spotlight on three opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

The first one addresses the needs of people living in Rockland County who are at least 60 years of age or a person living with a disability and who need help. BRIDGES is looking for CHORE Volunteers who are at least 18 years old who can help provide free minor household repairs and home improvements that will make living at home safe.
BRIDGES needs people who can replace light bulbs, install grab bars, replace electrical outlets and change batteries in smoke/CO detectors, among other things.

Next the 4-H Putnam County Fair is coming up July 26 to July 28 and volunteers are needed to help children make crafts and play games. There are also a variety of other opportunities.
For more information, call Maureen Salerno at 845-278-6738, ext. 17 or email her.

And finally for this week, there's another way to make a difference in the life of an older adult. RideConnect, which is part of Family Services of Westchester, is seeking volunteers who can provide occasional rides to older adults, age 60 and up, who live in Westchester County but are no longer driving.
The rides enable them to remain active in their communities and to continue to lead fulfilling lives. Hours are flexible.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a volunteer driver, contact Marietta C. Manoni at 914-242-7433.
