Vote For The Best Tasting Tap Water In Westchester Tuesday

The annual contest marks National Drinking Water Week.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Which community has the best tasting water in Westchester County? You can help decide at an event in White Plains marking National Drinking Water Week. County Executive Robert Astorino will cast the first vote for the best tap water in Westchester Tuesday, May 9.

The Westchester County Department of Health’s annual tap water contest will take place in front of the Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Ave. in White Plains.

Blind taste tests will happen from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The water supply with the most votes will be declared the winner and will compete regionally, according to information from the county.

Astorino urges people to stop by and cast their votes.

“We are all winners because we have access to a safe supply of this important natural resource that the county health department works hard to protect,” he said.

The 10 participating water suppliers in this year’s competition are: Village of Elmsford, Cortlandt Consolidated Water District #1, Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1, City of Peekskill, Scarsdale Water Department, Suez Rate District #1, Mount Vernon Water Department, Ossining Water Department, City of Yonkers and City of White Plains.
