Weather Update: Cold, Rainy St. Patrick's Day Weekend Forecast

Remember those 50s from earlier this week in White Plains, well it's back to reality, and winter is still holding on.

Well, that was a nice break in the weather this week. We could all get used to temperatures in the 50s and 60s in Westchester County… but it’s back to reality, basically beginning now, and unfortunately, it’s just in time for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The National Weather Service does not have any advisories for the next several days, and the good news is that we’re not looking at any measurable snow or ice over the next week. However, we could see a snowflake or two late Friday or early Saturday, but it mostly looks like cold rain throughout much of the weekend.

“There could still be enough cold air at the onset of the storm… to generate areas of wet snow and sleet for a brief time. However, enough warm air will flow into all levels of the atmosphere… to change everyone over to a plain cold rain before sunrise on Saturday,” writes Hudson Valley Weather. “ Temps will rise safely above freezing… and travel concerns Saturday morning should be limited to wet roads.”

If your community is holding a St. Patrick’s Day Parade this weekend, be sure to bring an umbrella and warm clothes. It’s probably a rain or shine event, but also check to make sure it hasn’t been postponed to the following weekend.

Next week, we also won’t see 50 degrees over the next seven days, unfortunately, as temperatures stubbornly remain in the low-to-mid 40s.
