Westchester Activists To Hold Vigil To Honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Organizers said the vigil will be a show of support for the ideas and values that Ginsburg championed.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A vigil to honor Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be held Sunday in White Plains. Grassroots activist groups across Westchester County will be joining faith leaders for a vigil remembering Ginsburg, who died Friday after a long battle with cancer.
Her death leaves a vacancy on the high court just weeks before the presidential election.
The vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday outside the United States District Court building in White Plains, 300 Quarropas St.

Organizers said the event will honor Ginsburg's legacy on the nation's highest court as one of the staunchest defenders of individual, civil and women's rights.
"The Sunday vigil will unite Westchester residents, local clergy and elected representatives in remembering Ginsburg and to call for the president and U.S. Senate to give a full hearing on any replacement. In one of her last acts, Ginsburg asked that a new member of the court not be named until after the election. This Sunday, will be a show of support for the ideas and values that Ginsburg championed — especially women’s rights — and a demand that those ideas and values remain a cornerstone of the Supreme Court’s decisions," according to a news release.
