Westchester Looking To Increases Sales Tax
The plan is to ask the for the increase to be included in the state's budget.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County is looking to have its sales tax increased by 1 percent to help stabilize its finances after years of deficits that have decreased reserve funds. County Executive George Latimer said he is asking that the increase be included in the state budget.
That way there would be no need for state lawmakers to sponsor a bill to ask for the increase that would then have to be voted on by the Legislature, the Journal News said.
The total sales tax in Westchester is 7.375 percent, a point lower than New York City, Putnam and Rockland counties, Long Island and the four major cities in Westchester County.
