Rockland Boulders put infielder/designated hitter John Fitzpatrick of White Plains on disabled list after he aggravated a left wrist injury pinch-hitting Sunday against the New Jersey Jackals at Provident Bank Park in Pomona.
Fitzpatrick spent four years at Manhattan College (MAAC, NCAA D1). Set personal records in his senior season (.325 BAA, 18 HR, 66 RBI, 65 hits, 57 GP, .685 SLG). Went undrafted after college in 2006, but then signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in ’07.
He spent that year with the Gulf Coast Pirates, where he hit .236 in 42 games. Compiled 30 base hits in 127 at-bats, and registered nine home runs and 31 RBI.
Made jump to short-season A with the State College Spikes and recorded a .293 batting average in 13 games. Tallied 12 hits in 41 at-bats. Career batting average of .250 with nine homeruns and 33 RBI.
