White Plains Council Votes to Not Vote on FASNY Special Permit, Site Plan

The decision defies a court order from January.

The White Plains Common Council voted to defy a court order directing it to vote on a special permit for the French-American School of New York.

So the conversion of the former Ridgeway Country Club into a school campus has been further delayed while the council appeals the ruling, according to an article on lohud.com.

The council voted Monday to table the application until the city’s next court appearance, which is Feb. 11.

Supreme Court Judge Joan B. Lefkowitz issued a ruling in January that said the council must vote on FASNY’s special permit and site plan applications “no later than its next regular meeting.”

FASNY’s plan is to consolidate its Larchmont, Scarsdale and Mamaroneck campuses onto a portion of the 131-acre former country club. Included in the concept are a 78-acre public park and closing a portion of Hathaway Lane.
