Over 90 golfers turned out for the 12th annual Joseph R. Riverso Golf outing on Monday, May 7.

Baseball

We thank the Stepinac baseball supporter for the below submission:

Stepinac defeated Spellman 5-4 to sweep the season series and move into 2nd place in the CHSAA Bronx/Westchester Division.  Julian Ponce pitched 6 innings and got the win. 

Skylar Mercado got the save with a bases loaded strikeout.  Danny Hoffer had 2 RBI's for Stepinac (6-5).

Softball

The season and collegiate softball career of Skidmore senior Lauren Bernstein (White Plains-Masters '08) and her Thoroughbred softball nine came to an end, as they lost the season finale to Middlebury on the 1st, 8-3.

The outfielder was sidelined with an injury for the latter part of the season, but started 27 of her 28 games prior to this phase, and had a batting average of .203, with 69 at bats, scored 13 runs on 14 hits, had 3 doubles, 1 home run, 11 r.b.i.s, walked 7 times, fanned 8 times, was 4-4 in stolen bases, and had 12 putouts and 1 error in the field. The team's record was 13-24, and 2-8 in the conference.

Jamie Klotz (White Plains '11) of Muhlenberg and her softball team ended the season with twin wins at Franklin & Marshall, 4-0 and 6-5. In game one, she pinched hit and grounded out in her one turn at bat.

Her season record included a batting average of .302, plus starting in 18 of 24 game appearences, during which times she scored 7 runs, had 16 hits, including 2 doubles and 1 home run, 14 r.b.i.'s, was 4-4 in stolen bases, walked twice, fanned 6 times, and had 16 putouts on the field.

In her final game of the season, Emily Frawley (White Plains '11) of New Paltz pinch hit in the 4-3 loss with Oswego, and struck out. On the season, she played in 3 games, started 4, scored 7 runs, had 6 hits, walked twice and fanned 3 times. She also had 7 putouts and an assist, plus stealing 3 times in 4 attempts. The Hawks had a record of 14-26:5-12 on the season.

Baseball

In a 16-10 rout of Assumption on the 6th, Matthew Ciraco (White Plains-Perkiomen ’08) batted 1 for 4, and had 1 run as Le Moyne's record reached 35-12.

Track & Field

At the Vassar Twilight track meet on the 4th, Jadal Confalone (White Plains-Brookfield '10) competed in the women's 100 meter run, and finished 25th, with a clocking of 16.07, while in the 200, she was 17th, timed at 35.36. Her 4 x 100 relay quartet finished 2nd, with a time of 59.25.

At the MAAC Championship at Rider College on the 5th and 6th, Kelly Maguire (White Plains '11) of Loyola (Md.) finished 15th in the women's 1,500, with a time of 5:09.30. As lead off runner in the women's 4 x 800 race, she and her fellow runners finished 4th, clocked at 9:26.68, thereby earning 5 points for the team. Loyola finished overall in 6th place, with 20 points.
