White Plains Hospital Adopts System-Wide Quality Platform

White Plains Hospital First in the Country To Adopt Innovative System-Wide Platform To Enhance Patient Safety, Experience & Quality of Care

With fifteen outpatient facilities throughout Westchester, a new 70,000 sq. foot Center for Cancer Care, and the busiest emergency department in Westchester, White Plains Hospital (WPH) has undergone a significant transformation in recent years.

To build on its commitment to exceptional care, everyday, WPH is adopting an innovative new High Reliability platform to advance quality and consistency throughout the Hospital and all of its facilities. White Plains Hospital is the first hospital in the United States to adopt a program of this type throughout every department and all clinical areas, including outpatient facilities. The new platform streamlines existing data collection, allows for capturing patient satisfaction information before patients leave the campus, and creates a closed-loop follow-up system for automatically addressing any issues, as they arise, in real time.

“Our vision for the Hospital’s future has always been to provide the best to our community, and this new initiative builds on our already high quality outcomes,” says Susan O’Boyle, RN, MSN, CPHQ, Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs at White Plains Hospital. “In today’s healthcare marketplace, patients have a choice. Excellence is what we promise; excellence is what we deliver.”

The program will provide the hospital with a technology-based system for tracking, trending, and responding to its internal performance in key areas, in real time. In addition, a full-time on-site High Reliability Director will support the Hospital in developing, deploying, and sustaining all aspects of the Readiness Rounds platform.

“By being the first in the industry to adopt this system-wide approach, White Plains Hospital has taken a leadership position in further enhancing already high quality outcomes,” says Don Death of Readiness Rounds.

The High Reliability Platform will be integrated into all areas of the hospital as well as its satellites, and will cover a wide range of processes, including clinical quality, infection prevention, environmental health and safety, patient satisfaction and experience, operational quality, physician practices, and safety.

“We are pleased to take the lead in integrating this innovative High Reliability program into all areas of White Plains Hospital,” says O’Boyle. “This is an important and innovative tool that leverages the latest technology to help elevate patient care to the next level across our entire organization.”
