White Plains Man Bilks 2 Women Of $180K+

In one case, he said the money was to start a charity. In the other case, he said he could help an elderly woman with veterans benefits.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A man who was accused of stealing more than $180,000 from two different women pleaded guilty Oct. 3 to charges of grand larceny. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Eric Jackier, 49, of White Plains, pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny and third-degree grand larceny, both felonies.

Jackier will be sentenced March 6, 2019.

Scarpino said that, in White Plains, Jackier faced the third-degree larceny charge after he stole $16,475 between May 15, 2015, and Aug. 20, 2015, from a White Plains woman.

He told her the money was to be used to set up a charity, but he pocketed the money for himself.

For the second-degree larceny charge, Jackier stole $167,000 in checks written by the victim to himself.

Authorities said the victim was an elderly Rye Brook woman to whom Jackier claimed to be an expert who could help secure veteran's benefits for her elderly husband.

He used the title of "non-attorney representative" who could handle veteran and Social Security cases.

The thefts took place between Aug. 1, 2013, and Oct. 4, 2017.

Authorities said he again used the money for his own purposes. He was arrested by the Rye Brook police.
