White Plains' St. Patrick's Parade Set For Saturday

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Yes, the parade was canceled two years in a row, and yes, it had to be postponed because of inclement weather for another two weeks.

But the 23rd annual White Plains St. Patrick's Day Parade is now set to step off at noon Saturday.

And the weather will be better Saturday. According to the National Weather Service, White Plains is looking to have a 50 percent change of scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Otherwise it will be partly sunny with a high near 55.

This year's grand marshal is James J. Houlihan, managing principal of Houlihan-Parnes Realtors LLC. He's managed its daily operations since becoming a partner in 1987.

He is past president and chairman of the board of the Apartment Owners Advisory Council of Westchester and the past chairman of the Sales Brokers Committee of the Real Estate Board of New York.

Featured in the parade will be parade Chairman John Martin and White Plains city officials Mayor Thomas Roach and Common Council members.

Westchester officials scheduled to participate include County Executive George Latimer, Board of Legislators Chairman Benjamin Boykin II, District Attorney Mimi Rocah and County Clerk Tim Idoni.

Rep. Mondaire Jones, D-Rockland/Westchester, was also expected to attend.

Bands that will be participating in the parade include the Westchester Firefighters Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, Maria Regina High School and the Iona College Pipes Band.

The parade will begin on Mamaroneck Avenue near Old Mamaroneck Avenue, travel up to Main Street where it turns right, ending near City Hall.
