White Plains –YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is excited to announce that nominations for the 2019 Westchester Women’s Hall of Fame are now open!
The Women's Hall of Fame award has always been presented to a woman who has made an outstanding contribution to Westchester County in any one or more of the following fields: the arts, athletics, business, education, government, human services, humanitarianism/philanthropy and sciences. Each year, the award was presented at the Westchester County Women's Hall of Fame and Scholarship Awards Luncheon.
Last summer, YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester (YWCA) became the new home of the Women’s Research & Education Fund (WREF), an organization established over 30 years ago to assist and inspire women to develop their skills and talents through scholarship support and the Westchester Women’s Hall of Fame.

Over the years, WREF has provided over $1,800,000.00 in scholarships to over 760 qualifying scholars, who represent the brightest in terms of uniqueness, skill, and hope for the future. Scholarships, such as WREF’s allow women the opportunities to develop and achieve success through education. WREF also established the Women’s Hall of Fame to recognize women who have made outstanding contributions to Westchester County and could inspire others. The list of inductees into the Hall of Fame include Ruby Dee, former Senator Hillary Clinton, Eileen Fisher, New York State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousin, Abigail Kirsh, Assemblywoman Amy Paulin and most recently New York Secretary of State Rossana Rosado.
“The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is proud to continue WREF’s history of inducting trailblazing women leaders into the Westchester Women’s Hall of Fame. Our vision is that these honorees inspire every women and girl to live out her own legacy,” stated Maria Imperial, CEO of the YWCA.

The YWCA would like to continue the tradition of the Westchester Women’s Hall of Fame by creating a physical and virtual place -- a living museum and testament -- to celebrate women and girls’ accomplishments in Westchester County.
The nomination deadline is July 31, 2019. A winner will be selected by August 7, 2019 and will be honored at a Hall of Fame event on November 7, 2019. The nomination form can be found on YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester’s website.
