Bomb Threats Force Brooklyn Jewish Schools To Evacuate, Police Report

Students boarded buses as emergency crews responded.

WILLIAMSBURG— Two Jewish schools in Brooklyn evacuated Friday morning after receiving bomb threats minutes apart, prompting responses from New York City police emergency units and bomb-sniffing dogs.

The first threat came by phone at about 9:54 a.m. at Yeshivah of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School.

Six minutes later, United Talmudical Academy in Williamsburg received a similar call, according to the New York Police Department.

Emergency Service Unit officers and canine teams responded to both schools, located at 1609 Avenue J in Flatbush and 590 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg.

No injuries were reported.

Flatbush Shmira, a volunteer community safety organization, said it was coordinating with police and local schools.

The group described the situation as under control and urged residents to follow official guidance.
