CALLING ALL CAREGIVERS 
Our FREE YMCA Caring for Caregivers support group program is now entering its second year, and we are looking forward to seeing new and returning members in our meetings at the Long Island City YMCA and for other in-person and online events this year.
In our program, the focus is on the caregivers.
Caregivers often give up a lot in their own lives, while caring for others. Many caregivers feel strong emotions due to caregiving pressures. 
We support you to take care of yourself better AND get more assistance in your caregiving role from state, city, and community resources.
Then you can feel better about your caregiving, minimize burnout, and feel more fulfilled in your own life.

Journey into the Underworld&nbsp; via Pomegranate Productions' immersive reimagining of Persephone. As Homer narrates the tale of Persephone’s kidnapping by the Queen of the Underworld, dancers and large-scale installations bring the myth to life. Pulling on the aesthetic traditions of Viola’s Room and Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy, attendees will wander through Newtown Creek Nature Walk in Greenpoint in this intimate adventure. The Setting Newtown Creek has been a site of industrialization, a Superfund designation by the EPA, and most recently, a dumping ground for a serial killer. The city built a wastewater treatment plant next to the creek and in 2015, the land next to the plant was turned into a green space spanning sections of Newtown Creek. In this production, Newtown Creek serves as the Underworld's River Styx. This site-specific play was created to highlight the tradeoffs that we make between environmental efforts and commercial interests—at the end of the experience, attendees will leave with an enlarged sense of community stewardship.
