City To Revamp 3 Brooklyn Parks In $318M Program
Three parks in southern Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy will be renovated in a $318 million project from the Parks Department.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Three small parks in southern Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy will be fixed up under a $300 million Parks Department program, the city announced Monday.
The three green spaces — Bartlett Playground at 11 Whipple St., Lewis Playground at 773 Willoughby St. and Penn Triangle at 4244 Penn St. — have been added to a list of 67 neighborhood parks to be revamped through the Community Park Initiative, according to the mayor’s office.
The $312 million project was initially budgeted at $285 million, but the announcement Monday that 11 new sites would be added to the Parks Department project was coupled with news of a new price tag.

The other new sites include Prospect Playground and Mapes Ballfield in The Bronx; Bill Bojangles Playground, Harlem Lane Playground, Joseph C. Sauer Park and Playground One in Manhattan; Chappetto Square in Queens; and Mariners Harbor Playground on Staten Island.
Five parks have been completed under the initiative so far and another 12 are expected to be completed by the end of 2017. The three Williamsburg park renovations are expected to be completed by are expected to be completed by 2021.
