$1K In Coins Stolen From Greenpoint Laundromat, Police Say

A man broke into Baoburg and a Greenpoint laundromat, where he stole $1,000 in coins, early Sunday morning, said police.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — Police are searching for the burglar who broke into a trendy Bao restaurant then robbed a laundromat of $1,000 in coins on Sunday.

The suspect crept in through the unlocked basement door of Baoburg at 614 Manhattan Ave. around 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning, rummaged through the supplies and fled with an unknown amount of the restaurant’s property, police said.

The man then dashed seven blocks to a laundromat on Norman Avenue and Jewel Street, where he broke open the coin machine and grabbed $500 in cash and $1,000 in coins around 2:45 a.m., said police.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect, whom police describe as a man in a starred baseball cap, a dark jacket and light pants.
