WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Police have arrested a Bushwick man for peeing on a Metropolitan Avenue church last week and toppling its statues. The incident had garnered the outrage and financial help of various community leaders, who said it is the latest in a pattern of hate crimes in the city.
Andrew Oshesky, 23, was charged with two counts of a criminal mischief as a hate crime, two counts of criminal mischief for property damage, aggravated harassment and urinating in public.
Oshesky was caught on camera last Sunday just before 4 a.m. on the steps of Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, where he relieved himself before pushing over two statues, which broke from the fall.
