Masked Mugger Attacks Williamsburg Woman, Police Say

Police released footage of a brutal robbery that took place outside a Williamsburg woman's home on the Fourth of July.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN -- Police are looking for the man caught on camera throwing a Williamsburg woman to the curb and stealing her handbag on the Fourth of July.

The violent purse-snatcher pulled his t-shirt up to hide his face, then crept up behind the 30-year-old woman as she unlocked her front door near Cook Street and Graham Avenue at about 3:35 a.m., police said.

Video shows the thief lurking on the steps, waiting for her to open the door, then lunging at the bag hanging from her shoulder.

The woman tried to cling to her purse, so the masked man used the strap to swing her into a parked car, police said.

He then fled with her purse, which had $200 in cash, a cellphone and five credit cards inside it, down Cook Street, said police.
