Oktoberfest Takes Over Greenpoint Waterfront

GREENPOINT— Oktoberfest returns to the Brooklyn waterfront this fall, bringing German beer, Bavarian food, live music and traditional games to Franklin Point.

Zum Schneider, a German restaurant and beer garden in Manhattan, will host Oktoberfest: Munich on the East River from Sept. 25 through Oct. 4 at 12 Franklin St., across from Bushwick Inlet Park.

The celebration will include a traditional Wiesn-style beer hall and a rooftop Biergarten overlooking the East River.

Vistors can expect German beers served in traditional one-liter steins, including Paulaner, Weihenstephaner, Schneider Weisse and HB Traunstein.

Nonalcoholic German beer, wine, cider, Aperol Spritz and soft drinks will also be available.

The food menu will feature Bavarian staples including roasted pork shank, rotisserie chicken, Obazda cheese spread, giant pretzels and traditional sausages.

Mösl Franzi & the JaJaJas, a Bavarian band based in New York City, will perform Bavarian music and Oktoberfest singalongs.

Servers will wear traditional lederhosen and dirndls, while communal tables and Oktoberfest decorations will fill the beer hall.

Visitors also can take part in Wiesn games, including Dosenwerfen, and use a themed photo booth.

Tickets start at $15 for the rooftop Biergarten and $25 for general seating. Saturday general seating costs $35. Reserved seating costs $35, or $45 on Saturdays. VIP tickets cost $110, while all-inclusive tables cost $2,250.
