Jewelry Vending Machine Dispenses $13K Of Baubles To Thief: NYPD

"You can't sell fine jewelry in a vending machine," a promotional video for the vending machine claims. "That would be crazy."

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A vending machine that dispenses fine jewelry in Brooklyn was ripped off by a thief who used a fraudulent credit card to buy $13,000 worth a baubles, police said.

The suspect stepped up to the vending machine at the William Vale Hotel at 111 North 12 St. at about 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 20 to make his purchases, police said.

The machine appears to belong to Marla Aaron, a New York based jewelry store that claims two vending machines at the William Vale hotel and the Brooklyn Museum in promotional videos on its website.

"You can't sell fine jewelry in a vending machine. That would be crazy," is the quote that opens the video.

Police are now looking for a suspect they describe as a man in his 20s or 30s, standing about 5-foot 10, weighing about 220 pounds and last seen wearing a black t-shirt with the Nike logo and the word "Run."
