Williamsburg Woman Fights Off Would-Be Rapist, Police Say

A Williamsburg woman was followed on her way home from work by a man who burst into her apartment and tried to rape her, police said.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for the man stalked a Williamsburg woman, forced his way into her home and tried to rape her.

The 30-year-old woman was followed after work as she headed to her home near Hewes and South Third streets at about 4:10 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The man jumped up from behind when she reached her apartment door, shoved his way into the apartment and threw her onto the couch, said police.

The brave woman fought off her attacker and he grabbed $300 from her wallet then ran away down South Fourth Street toward Union Avenue, said police.

Emergency responders took the woman to Woodhull Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

Police are now looking for a man in his late 20s, standing about 6-feet-tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark grey hoodie, black pants and a black hat.
