This Is The Worst Pricey Grocery Store In NYC

You voted. We counted. Here's the worst pricey grocery store in New York City.

NEW YORK CITY — The votes are in for the worst pricey grocery store in New York City and we have a winner.

Patch asked you to decide last week which of four contenders — Whole Foods, Citarella, Zabar's or Dean & Deluca — was the most annoyingly staffed, over-priced grocery store in all the five boroughs.

More than 280 of you submitted responses and one store stood out, snagged 32 percent of the votes and won the title.

"Dean & Deluca have the most arrogant workers and the most outrageously high prices of all the high end products grocery stores," wrote one voter. "It is one of the greatest tourist traps in the city."

"Dean & Deluca is out of this world," wrote another. "Its more like a boutique ... its just window shopping."

Whole Foods came in at a close second with 27 percent of the vote, Citarella came in third with 22 percent and Zabar's snagged 19 percent.

This victory means Dean & Deluca will face off against three other grocery stores in Patch's contest to name the worst grocery store in all of the city.

We'll hold three more subcategory contests (worst discount grocery store, worst chain grocery store and worst online grocery store), then pit the winners against each other for the chance to win the title of Worst Grocery store in NYC.

Next week, we're asking you to decide which discount grocery store stinks — maybe literally — the most.

More info on that challenge to come, so stay tuned.
