Organized by the principal and PTA, the program urged local sixth- through eighth-graders to confront bullying, social media pressures, and hidden pain by seeking help and setting clear goals for their futures. 
• Woodmere Holocaust survivor Asher Matathias dies at 82 (liherald.com) — Woodmere is mourning Holocaust survivor and longtime resident Asher J. Matathias, an educator and community leader who died Sept. 13 at 82. Known as “The Singing Professor,” he spent decades visiting schools and synagogues, sharing his family’s survival story and warning about antisemitism while remaining deeply involved in local Jewish communal life and the Sephardic Temple in nearby Cedarhurst.
