• Major Conservation Win in Mamakating: OSI Protects 89 Acres to Connect State Forests (newsatomic.com) — A newly protected 89-acre property between Wurtsboro Ridge and Roosa Gap State Forests will soon help expand local hiking, hunting, and skiing access once it’s added to Wurtsboro Ridge State Forest. The Open Space Institute’s purchase also safeguards wetlands and streams that feed the Basher Kill and, ultimately, major drinking water supplies. Trail groups plan new routes to enhance recreation on the Shawangunk Ridge.
