2 Arrested For Selling Alcohol To Minors: NYSP

Police said underage drinking is associated with the three most common causes of death among youth.

An underage drinking initiative in the Hudson Valley netted the arrests of two individuals for violations of the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control Law. State police conducted plainclothes checks of 15 retail locations in Westchester County that sell alcohol to ensure their compliance with the law.

Dipak Panday 43, of Mahopac, an employee of Swans Deli, 519 State Route 22 in North Salem, was arrested and charged with prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, a misdemeanor, police said.

Panday was issued an appearance ticket to the Town of North Salem Court for April 29.

Amy Cilmi Parr, 51, of North Salem, an employee of Hayfield Market, 1 Bloomer Road in North Sale, was also arrested and charged with misdemeanor prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

She was issued an appearance ticket to the Town of North Salem Court for May 6.

According to the state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, underage drinking is associated with the three most common causes of death among youth, including accidental deaths, such as car crashes, homicides and suicides.

The state police will continue to conduct underage drinking enforcement detail statewide in order to protect the citizens of the state and its youth, authorities said.
