Pied Piper Preschoolers Visit Solaris Sports Club in Yorktown

Pied Piper Pre-school recently took a class trip to Solaris Sports Club in Yorktown as part of the school’s monthly “meet the community” program.

The preschoolers had a great time learning about the importance of health and fitness, while playing tennis, soccer (with Dan Strauss – aka “Soccer Dan”) and doing a fun obstacle course. The kids had a great time!

Since 1980, The Pied Piper Pre-School program, run by co-directors Kathy Dineen and Marsha McCoy, has incorporated a blend of free play time and structured time.  To prepare a child for elementary school, there are times when the child governs and initiates his/her own activities, with teacher interaction when necessary.

There are also times when projects or activities are teacher initiated and everyone is working towards the same goals.

The program covers all traditional nursery school curricula through music, art, theatre and dance. In conjunction with this, specialized skills such as interaction, initiative, cooperation and creativity naturally occur. A child's first exposure to learning determines his/her attitudes towards education and the acquisition of new skills.
