Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester Receives Enthusiastic Support from New Mount Kisco Business
Jersey Mike's Subs' grand opening campaign raises more than $1,500 for Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester (BGCNW) received more than $1,500 in donations through a fundraising campaign hosted by Jersey Mike’s Subs, which celebrated its public grand opening in November. From Nov. 12 through Nov. 30, customers were able to redeem coupons for a free regular sub with a minimum donation of $1 to the Club.
“We are happy to support the Club – one of the most important members of this community because of its tremendous efforts and success in enriching the lives of northern Westchester’s at-risk youth,” Egan said. “We look forward to building a lasting partnership.”
A special VIP reception was held in late fall for friends and family, including a ribbon cutting with Mount Kisco Mayor J. Michael Cindrich, Assemblyman David Buchwald (D-Westchester), Jersey Mike’s franchise co-owners Brian Egan and Scott Kostyra, BGCNW Executive Director Brian Skanes, Jersey Mike’s employees and BGCNW supporters.

The South Moger Avenue location of Jersey Mike’s, a fast-casual sub sandwich franchise with more than 1,300 stores nationwide, is the first in Westchester County. As part of a company-wide practice, Jersey Mike’s partners with local organizations for each location’s grand opening as a way to show its appreciation for the communities they enter. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 750,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“We’re very thankful for Jersey Mike’s fundraising efforts – especially this time of year,” said Brian Skanes, executive director, BGCNW. “In 2014, BGCNW proudly supported 125 families, and many of them depend on us to help make their holidays bright.”

About the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester
Celebrating its 75th year, the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester remains dedicated to its mission to inspire and enable young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. A non-profit organization established in 1939, the Club has served more than 100,000 youth and welcomed nearly 10,000 volunteers, staff and board members over the years. Located in Mt. Kisco, NY, the Club’s 36,000-square-foot facility features an eight-lane pool, Child Care Center, gymnasium, game room and two computer labs, and an additional 1,600-foot Teen Center facility. The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester currently serves 1,700 boys and girls ages 6 months to 18 years, from more than 60 Northern Westchester communities. The Club has been ranked among the outstanding Clubs in the national network of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
