Broken Windshield Leads To Drug Accusation

Police said the Mahopac resident was driving with a suspended license.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Mahopac man was accused of having drugs as well as driving without a license. Yorktown police said Eric Martyniak, 37, of Mahopac, was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and unlicensed operator and broken windshield, traffic infractions.

Police said, around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, an officer saw a car which he said had a broken windshield.

Martyniak's license revealed he was operating his car while his privilege to do so was suspended.

Further investigation found he was in possession suboxone and a substance thought to be cocaine, police said.

Martyniak was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

He was issued one appearance ticket and three traffic tickets and released on his own recognizance.

Martyniak is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court March 3.
