Bronx Man Accused Of Shoplifting From Macy's
Police were already at the store investigating a previous incident when they were alerted to the shoplifting by store employees
YORKTOWN, NY — A Bronx resident was accused of shoplifting from Macy's. Yorktown police said Ernest D. Hepburn, 34, of the Bronx, was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
Around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8, a police officer was investigating a previous theft from Macy's, when one of the store's asset protection staff members told him they were watching a shoplifting in progress.
Police said Hepburn shoplifted children's clothing worth $198 by putting the merchandise inside a backpack and leaving the store without paying for it.

The officer found him outside Macy's, and after speaking with him, placed him under arrest.
Hepburn was taken to the Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

He was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail.
Hepburn is due back in court Oct. 22.
