Car In Woods Leads To DWI Accusation

Police said the man also was driving without a license.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated after he and his vehicle were found in the woods. Yorktown police said Franklin Martinez, 19, of Peekskill, was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated having a blood-alcohol content over 0.08 percent, misdemeanors.

Police said, around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers were sent to Hanover Street for a report of a vehicle in the woods.

The investigation found Martinez was driving drunk and without a license.

Police said he also committed several moving violations, including speed not reasonable, fail to maintain lane, unsafe lane change, unlicensed operator and improper plates, unregistered, uninspected and uninsured vehicle, all traffic infractions.

Martinez was arrested and processed at police headquarters and was released on his own recognizance to a responsible party.

He is scheduled to answer the charges in Yorktown Justice Court Jan. 12
