Carmel Pair Arrested In Yorktown: Police

The charges include felony weapon possession and criminal contempt.

YORKTOWN, NY — Two Putnam County residents were arrested after police stopped the car in which they were driving for a faulty brake light and not staying in the lane. Yorktown Police said an officer was patrolling Lexington Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Feb. 14 when the car was spotted.

The driver, David Gonzalez, 44, of Fox Run Lane in Carmel, was found to be in violation of a duly served order of protection, as well as having some marijuana and a gravity knife, police said.

According to authorities, Gonzalez had been previously convicted of a crime which elevated the weapon charge to a felony.

His passenger Jessica Taylor, 21, of Montrose Drive in Carmel, had a lit marijuana cigarette, police said.

The pair was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Gonzalez was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Taylor was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

After being arraigned, Gonzalez was sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond. Taylor was sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.

Both are due in Yorktown Justice Court Feb. 22.
