YORKTOWN, NY — Many senior students in the Hudson Valley were expecting to celebrate their final year with prom, graduation, and other milestone events. However, the new coronavirus crisis has meant that dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior," inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by the pandemic.

Jeff and Christine Giorgio nominated their daughter Alyson Giorgio, a senior at Yorktown High School.

Here's what the proud parents had to say about Alyson Giorgio:

"We are so incredibly proud of Aly!! She is a hardworking student with a very out going personality!! While in school she also worked at Wilken's Farm in the bakery and babysat a few days a week. She was a YAC youth cheerleader coach for years and absolutely loved it earning her 200 hours of community service. She has made the most incredible friends in her time at YHS. We are going to miss her tremendously (and all her friends!) but know that she will do great things. She will be attending James Madison University in the Fall majoring in Elementary Education."
