YORKTOWN, NY — Many senior students in the Hudson Valley were expecting to celebrate their final year with prom, graduation, and other milestone events. However, the new coronavirus crisis has meant that dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior," inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by the pandemic.

Heather and Herb Drake nominated Ashley Drake, a senior at Yorktown High School.

Here's what the proud parents had to say about their daughter:

"Ashley is a senior at Yorktown High School. She has been a cheerleader for Yorktown since third grade. In her senior year she was named one of the Varsity Captains. She received awards for All League, All Section and Scholar Athlete. Ashley has acquired 500 hours of Community Service throughout her four years of high school. Ashley will be attending Sacred Heart University in the fall to study elementary education. We are extremely proud of all her hard work and dedication throughout the years. Congratulations Ashley and to the Class of 2020! We wish you all the best in your future."
