Crash On Taconic Parkway In Yorktown Kills Dutchess County Man

The crash is under investigation, but police said the man may have had a medical emergency.

YORKTOWN, NY — A crash Sunday on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown claimed the life of a Dutchess County man. William Smith, 71, of Hopewell Junction, was killed after the 2003 Ford Taurus he was driving struck the center median, went back across three lanes and hit the guardrail.

Smith was taken to Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt where he was pronounced deceased, lohud.com said.

A State Police spokeswoman said the man possibly had a medical emergency leading to the crash.
