Crompond Elementary Student First To Compete In State Geography Bee

YORKTOWN, NY — What is the highest peak in Colorado?
Well, if you don’t know the answer, you could Glen Capshaw.
Capshaw, a fourth grader, is the first Crompond Elementary School student to compete in the New York State National Geographic Bee, according to a district spokeswoman.

“We are very proud of Glen, but not surprised,” said Principal Lori Roberts.
“He knows a great deal about geography,” she said.

Capshaw said he’s been interested in geography since he was about 5 and has at least eight globes at home, including an illuminated one.
“I just like reading about places and knowing where they are,” he said.
The state competition will be March 31 at the New York State Museum in Albany.
By the way, the highest peak in Colorado is Mount Elbert.
