Damaged, Smoking Vehicle Leads To Croton Man's DWI Arrest
Police said the man was also driving without a valid license and refused to take a breath test.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Croton-on-Hudson man faces a drunk driving charge and more after police found him in a heavily damaged vehicle Aug. 30 in Yorktown. Police said Christopher R. Hamilton, 27, of Pine Hill Rd. in Croton-on-Hudson was stopped while traveling westbound on Route 6 because his vehicle was smoking and had heavy front-end damage.
A routine computer check revealed that his privilege to drive in New York was allegedly suspended for failure to answer a summons, police said. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
Hamilton was also found to be driving while intoxicated, police said, and refused to take a breath test.

He was arrested and charged with the following:
- Driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor
- Driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor
- Refusal of a breath test, traffic infraction
- Leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a traffic infraction
- Open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, a traffic infraction
Hamilton was taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

He was released on $250 bail to a friend and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 12.
